A Quick Look...

I am going to try to do a quick look at our weekend and a few of my favorite things about the house right now.  I have to say I have been one happy mommy/wife now that the computer is working!

Brady woke up Friday morning at his normal 7:00, but screaming he had a stomach ache!  He would not even come down the stairs.  I put him in my bed to watch t.v. and by 8:00 he was screaming he was about to throw-up!  Great!  Sadly, he was having "P.J. Day at school" and they were supposed to bring their favorite animal and they were making their animal a house.  He threw-up and said, "oh, no, I threw-up........that means I can't go to school!"  Nothing like being homebound to make you unpack some more boxes in the garage!  He was sick all Friday, we had to cancell some friends coming over for pizza.  He was still not at the top of his game Saturday morning, but we had several places we wanted to go Sat. a.m. to then be able to come home and enjoy the BEAUTIFUL WEATHER(close to 70 degrees).  He was a trooper.  One of the stops we made was to get Cal a pocket knife.  A friend of his has one and he has wanted one so bad, Matt decided he could get one.
He has dreams of going hunting with this knife :) Hunting season ended this weekend, so he is counting down to next fall!

He went with the Swiss Army because of all the different gadgets.  He can open his daddy a beer and his mommy a bottle of wine.  He picked out this little case too.  He SERIOUSLY could not be more proud or excited!

After I took his picture with his knife, he asked if I would take a picture of him doing a flip.

Since brother got a knife, Brady is going to learn to hunt with a bow and arrow or cross bow for his age!

This is what he looked like most of Friday and Sat.

Now here are a few of my favorite things about the house right now:

My mom and dad's dining room table and chairs.  I am "wanting" a new rug, new buffet, maybe four more chairs and will one day recover the chairs........................that is all one day..................

Our dining room table and chairs, now our kitchen table and chairs.

Another piece I brought back from mom's

Love these parfait glasses of my grandmother's
These old Bibles are from my grandmother's house.  The bottom one is one my mom gave my grandmother and granddaddy the year before she and my dad got married.

My grandmother gave this to my grandaddy when they got married.  How sweet is this love note full of the word of the Lord?  (It is the little one on top in the picture above).

New House = Computer Issues

The days I have been without a computer since moving into our new house far outweigh the days I have been able to get on the computer!  I am OVER IT!  Matt has spent countless hours on the phone trying to get the problem fixed.  We recieved a new modem in the mail yesterday and Matt had the computer up and running by bed last night.  Lets just hope the modem will do the trick!

This morning I went to Cal's school for the 100th day of school party from 8-9.  They had 7 centers and a big cake that said "Happy 100th"!  They had to draw a picture of themselves at age 100 (Cal drew his old man with an earring).  His teacher guessed that age 100 would be the age I would allow him to get his ear pierced.  :)  I didn't take my camera (I did good to take a shower and get Cal and to school by 7:45), but another mommy said she would e-mail the pictures from her camera.

A friend invited Brady over to play (if I would bring her a Starbucks on my way).  Ha!  So I have a Starbucks, a computer and no children.  Shaping out to be a pretty good morning.  It is cold and raining, but I have a computer, so I don't mind!

We went to Atlanta over Martin Luther King holiday.  There was still plenty of ice/snow for the kids to play in (I need to note that these ice/snow pictures were taken on Saturday, a week after the snow had fallen).  The boys could not have been more excited!  It made for a fun weekend.  Matt brought back a truck filled with furniture from my parent's house and I brought my neice back for the week.  Adding an extra 3 year old made for one tired mommy! Cal reminded me that when Kendall comes to town we go to Build-a-Bear!  So I picked Cal up from school on Tuesday and we headed to the mall for lunch, Build-a-Bear, the carousel and a cookie from the Cookie Co.  On Wed., the boys went to school and Kendall and I had a girl's day.  She requested that we go to the park and McDonald's.  Kristy came over Wed. night and they went back to Atlanta on Thursday.

Kendall, Cal and Brady

Luigi loved the snow too!  He loved eating it.
Kristy showing Matt how to shovel ice.  She was excited that she has learned something from living in WI.

I'll take some pictures of how the furniture we brought back looks in the house. We are excited about the way the house is starting to come together.

Now I'm thinking about going to exercise...........................................

My 2nd Try

Monday was Ten on Ten Picture Day.  I did this once before (months ago).  This is where you take a picture every hour for 10 hours on the 10th of each month.  We were out of school Monday, not because there was any ice or snow, but because they had predicted that we would get ice.  Good news is, it was a good day to take pictures.

We slept late, so my pictures didn't start until 9:45.  This is the only indication of "ice" I could find.

Matt didn't go into work until noon, so we went to the bookstore and to eat Chinese

Buttons on my boots

I stocked up on paint and canvas for the kids and I in case we were iced in

One of my favorite things about the new house............the ice-maker

This is a daily event...Luigi trying to eat the flowers off the top of my slippers

Cal's hand eating blueberries for dinner. The 2nd round had cool-whip on top
6:45.........All of us love when daddy gets home.  Especially Luigi!

A Good Start

We have had a really good start to our 2011.  Here is what we have been doing............

1.) Matt and I both were able to get in several days of exercise.

2.) I cooked healthy dinners every night last week, which made for a really dirty kitchen and LOTs of dishes.

3.) We had family game night on Wednesday night.

4.) Watched "Winter Wipeout" as a family Thursday night (the boys had hot chocolate with whip-cream).

5.) Had a family meeting about the boys sleeping habits (aka them coming into our room).  Brady is now sleeping in Cal's room and they have both done beautifully at not coming into our room.

6.) Matt and I had a date night.

7.) Cal got his 2nd semester report card and it was great.  He got to pick his reward.......a trip to the mall arcade with Matt.

8.) I have made it one week into my no alcohol/no extra sweets for 2 Week Trial.  (I am having to take back the no extra sweet part due to just making a PW cake and having a piece).  It was to entertain to boys, does that count?

9.) Made a  black eyed-pea dip and shrimp quesadilla's ala PW Friday night (another tiny break from healthy) :)

10.)  It's Sunday night and we are waiting on it to ice/snow.  No school for the boys tomorrow..........It is the South..... Brady's school closed yesterday and Cal's earlier today.  Not sure if you read the first part really well, it is not even raining or snowing yet!

I am excited that we don't have to get up tomorrow or next Monday.  School's are closed next Monday for MLK day.  Well, that is what we have been doing and as I said, feeling like it is a really good start to the new year.

New Year, New Camera

Happy New Year!
We had 4 other families come over for New Year's Eve and the children and adults had a great time.  The children were able to jump on the trampoline and do some spraklers and smoke bombs.  There was even a time where the adults did not realize that it had started raining and the children were still outside jumping and were soaking wet.  Cal came in and asked for umbrella's.  Um, NO! We did make it until 11:00 and toasted with New York.

Scarlett, Palmer, Rosemary and me (Linda was not there yet)

The most exciting thing that has happened since Christmas is that Thursday night, before NYE on Friday, Matt got the trampoline built.  His friend Geno came over with his son Trey who is in college.  Bless them, they put the trampoline together under the patio because it was dark and raining, then we pulled it out in the grass.

It was 71 degrees here on NYE
This picture is to show Luigi running under the trampoline trying to get the boys feet.  Luigi has had more exercise in the past 4 days than maybe his whole life.  If they are on the trampoline, Luigi is under it.

Here are a few pictures I took of the boys with my new camera

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and fun 2011!
