This Never Happens

Brady actually came and asked me to take his picture.  He NEVER lets me take his picture, so I grabbed the camera, but didn't have time to zoom (oh well).  He and Cal are also into me recording them on the camera and then "re-watching" themselves over and over.  Brady just sits and laughs when he watches himself.  We had 4 video "takes" along with this picture.  He loves to say "banana", "coocoo" and "naked".  He can say these words over and over and laugh at himself every time.

Valentine's Day - Kid Style

The boys did not get to have a Valentine's Party at school due to the snow, but they did get a bag full of goodies.

My sister and neice were in Atlanta on Valentine's, so we headed over Sunday afternoon for a visit.  Grammy had cookies to bake and crafts to make.

Here are our cookies we did at our house.

Valentine's Day - Mommy/Daddy Style

2nd Annual Parent's Valentine's Night Out.   Notice the new black leather chairs.  Also, that is my real china and crystal (thankful it is all dishwasher safe).  Last year our church youth group was trying to raise money for a mission trip, so they had a Parent's Night Out on Valentine's Day, so several of us took advantage and had a nice steak dinner at a friend's house.  We wanted to do the same thing this year on the Saturday night before V-Day, so we decided that we would get a babysitter for the kids at one house and we would have the dinner here at our house.  Last year the couple hosting just said to dress up (the husband almost wore a tux, just b/c that is the kind of guy he is).  Due to the snow when the wives asked what the dress was, I decided to try "Ski Resort Chic".  Jeans, Sweaters and Boots......well, we got a special treat when John, who almost wore the tux last year walked in wearing his father-in-laws old sweat suit.  I fixed a beef tenderloin for the first time and it turned out so yummy!  We had a salad, gorgonzola potatos and a big chocolate cake from Costco.  Last year we had homemade Chocolate Martini's, but this year we all just brought wine and beer to share and I had a couple of bottles of ChocoVine.  ChocoVine is something I discovered at Christmas.  I took it with me to Chirstmas Bunko and everyone thought it tasted just like a chocolate martini, only it is red wine with cream and chocolate.  Sounds gross, but really good.  For some reason I only got pre-dinner pictures except for a quick pic of John eating our app. of cheese fondue.  There is a fantastic picture of the kids all asleep on floor at the other house on my facebook profile page.  Dinner started at 6:30 and the next thing we knew it was 10:45 (Oops)!

Fun Day in the Snow

We had a special snow day last Friday.  A treat for Montgomery. It snowed when Brady was around a year, but we went to Atlanta thinking Atlanta would get more than Montgomery.  It snowed last March, but Matt and I were at the beach.  So this was our first family snow day in Montgomery.  They cancelled school on Thursday afternoon, which meant the boys did not get to have their Valentine's Party at school, but snow is so much more fun than a Valentine Party!  We woke up Friday and it had actually not started snowing yet, but by 8:30 it was coming down.  It snowed pretty much all day.  Cal had a blast, but Brady (who does not enjoy getting even a drop of water on him when washing hands or a drop of juice box,was not sold).  We got dressed the first time and he quickly retreated inside saying, "I wet.  It raining on me!"  He did try to venture out when Cal and Matt went to build the snowman.

Here is Cal sleeding with our neighbors.

Here is the second attempt at getting Brady outside.   (1)Sitting in the garage in the stroller.  He would still freak out as the snow blew in and landed on him.  (2)He wanted to go see the snowman, so we took an umbrella. (3) He did decide to touch it and (4) he did at least try to throw a snowball.
Here is our snowman.  The snowman was a beautiful piece of work because everything that Matt does is the best.
Thanks honey!

Preschool Fun

During the month of February, when you bring home the snack bucket in Cal's class, you also get to bring home Chester the Cat. We had Chester last weekend. Brady and Cal both had so much fun with Chester. Really Brady may have had more fun, but he also thought it was a new toy and did not want to return Chester to Cal's class on Monday. Chester went with Cal, Matt and Brady to eat with some other dad's and children Friday night to Red Robin. The mommies were on a church retreat. I returned Sat. and we took Chester to eat with us Sat. night and to the book store where we discovered he loves books. Chester was able to go to church Sunday and watch the Super Bowl. At least we had some fun stuff to journal about.

This week is P week at school. They made "Pizza" for snack Wed. and also had to either wear "Plaid" or "Polka Dots". Thankfully my aunt and uncle had given Cal a plaid (big boy shirt) for Christmas or I would not have had anything plaid for him to wear. I have not bought him any big boy shirts yet, but he looked really cute, so I had to take his picture. Did have to bring up another "P" word when he was giving me his "Peace" sign. Not sure where the "Peace" sign in pics has come from. If you saw him in the painting pictures from the last post he is also giving a little peace sign. He also did some other finger sign in the other picture below. Again, not sure where the signs are coming from.

Amazing What a Little Paint Can Do!

We had several rooms of the house painted last week. It really looks like a new house. It truly is amazing what a little paint can do.

Here is the guest bath that went from cream to green.

Here is the mantle that went from white to brown

Here is the dining room that went from taupe to red

Love how Cal's portrait looks against the red

This was added at the last minute (no before pic). Cal really wanted his room painted which was just cream so now it is light blue/gray with a brown stripe

Here is the playroom, which is not put back together yet, so again, it did have taupe walls, but is now brown with a green stripe
