Jan. Wrap Up

I am so far behind with January that I have decided to just write about Jan. rather than post pics. I will try to do better the month of February with pictures. Here is my quick list of January; cold, Kindergarten prep/open houses, and good family time.

We have really had a wonderful month. On New Year's Eve we went bowling as a family. Brady bowled and everything. It was so cute. We learned a valuable lesson..........mommy needs bumpers too, not just the boys. It has been so cold here that we built a fire (really gas logs) for the first time (yes, we have been here for 6 years). We let the boys do smore's in the fireplace. All the ponds in the neighborhood froze, so the boys/Cal spent much time hitting the frozen ponds with sticks, just wishing they could walk across one. Also, Cal set up a hot chocolate stand and made $5.50 in an hour. It was so cute.

Our other major time consuming thing in January has been looking at School's/Kindergarten for Cal to attend in the fall. Unfortunately we have to do private school here in Montgomery, no free public school for us :(! Our choices were Eastwood, which is actually our church, and Trinity, which is the school Matt graduated from. We had to go have a psychologist test (yes, how crazy is that) and do both open houses. After we went to both open houses and with much prayer have decided to just look at Trinity. Cal was sold after the Open House. His first words were "sign me up"! We have a "playgroup"/observation group to go to on Friday of this week then all there is to do is pray some more and wait for our letter that will be sent out the first week of March. This is a big "sibling" year at Trinity. There are 40 siblings which leaves about 32 spots for all the other kids applying. Hopefully Matt's alumni status will give us a little pull.

That is all from January, not sure what February will bring, but Cal is ready for summer. This is something that I didn't know about my 5 yo, he HATES cold weather. Almost every morning he wakes up walks into the kitchen and says "Good Morning, is it summer yet?" To my little 5 yo all things exciting are supposed to happen in Spring/Summer. The first most important thing is the pool will open in May and we get to go to the beach during the summer. Next would be that we might get a puppy around May (we have told the boys when Brady turned 3 we would get a puppy and Brady will be 3 in April). I really thought it was Matt and Brady who wanted the dog the most, but after the hour long fit Cal had yesterday about us not loving him because we haven't bought a puppy yet, I think he really wants a dog too.
