Turning 6 with Chuck E Cheese

Cal was so determined to have his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese this year, the only problem is that really our Chuck E Cheese is not on the best side of town and there are only certain times you can really go.  So really the only thing that worked was right after school on Friday (12:30-2:30).  I will not go into the fact that Chuck E Cheese does not like to have parties on the half hour.  Really messed them up wanting to do this. We invited the whole class.

Waiting on everyone to get there

Played some games then ate pizza

Chuck E came out and did a birthday show that included giving Cal a crown

Can you tell he is really into being the star?  Please note the top tooth hanging down.  He will not let Matt pull it yet.  It is literally hanging there by a back root!

CAKE!!!!

Also presented with a birthday boy medal
Everyone watching the show
O.K. people this is the reason we had our party at Chuck E Cheese....................THE TICKET BLASTER.  He saw this on a commercial.  You get inside and tickets blow all around you and you try to catch them.  PURE JOY!

IT WAS SUCH A FUN PARTY!  ALL THE KIDS HAD A GREAT TIME.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAL!!!!  MOMMY, DADDY AND BOO LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

Star Week

Here are a few pics of Cal's star poster that he had to take to school Monday.  The poster hangs at the front of the room all week.

We also had to take a show and tell toy everyday
Monday's pick: Cad Bane....Star War's bounty hunter who Cal will be for Halloween

Tuesday: Happy Birthday Cal!
He took a cookie cake to school and more show and tell

Wanted to take this book and the box Matt and I brought him back from Puerto Rico

Our neightborhood had a Fall Festival Tuesday night.  It was a perfect birthday activity and our neighbors went with us.  The boys didn't dress up because the girls were not dressing up.

Face Painting
Train Ride.  They all wanted to sit on the same row

Wed: I got to go read to the class, which was extra special! And more show and tell. This is a Lego guy my sister gave him for his birthday.  He wanted to take one of his birthday gifts and this was the only thing Matt had time to build.

Thursday: Show and Tell, T-Rex that makes sounds

Friday: Cal received his STAR BOOK from the class.  Each child drew a picture of themselves and Cal playing and Mrs. Hallford wrote what each child loved the most about Cal.  Last show and tell and of course his birthday party is right after school.

Weekend with Scruffy

We had an extra family member this weekend.  His name is Scruffy and he is Cal's class pet.  Each child has a turn bringing him home and the parent's have to take pictures of what Scruffy does with the family and then we write in a journal and add the pictures to send back so the child can share their weekend with the class.

Cal brought Sruffy home on Thursday night because they were out of school Friday for conferences.  We didn't do anything Thursday night, so no pictures.  On Friday, while Brady was at school, we worked on his star poster that is also due on Monday.  Here is Scruffy checking out the star poster.

Matt finished work at 12 and we picked Brady up at 1:00.  Matt, Cal and I had not had lunch, so we went to eat Mexican then headed to a little church pumpkin patch.  Cal will do the BIG pumpkin patch for a field trip, so we just went to the small one close by.  Brady, Cal and Scruffy piked out a pumpkin.  As you can see Brady and Scruffy went for a small pumpkin while Cal went for one that we will be able to carve.

Here was my favorite pumpkin, but I didn't ask Matt to get it.  Thinking about going back for it.
It has orange, white and green all in one pumpkin.

Here is my short new "do".  Went short on Wed.

Saturday we left for Tuscaloosa around 9:30.  The parade was at noon and the game was not until 8:10.  Thank goodness we decided to stay with Matt's grandmother Saturday night so we did not have to drive home.  The boys had a nice time at the parade then we went to eat lunch and rest at Matt's grandmother's house then went back to campus around 5.  We went into the game and Brady was asleep before kick-off.  Cal was starting to nod off just before the end of the 1st quarter.  We put them to bed and watched the rest of the game from the comfort of Mimi's den.

Please note......Brady is smiling!

Brady thinking "there sure is a lot of FILLER in this parade"!

I LOVE BOTH OF THESE LITTLE FACES!

LOOK BRADY SMILING AGAIN!

Brady sacked out.

Weekend Trip

I found out on Tuesday that a friend of mine had lost her father and I would need to go to the visitation on Thursday.  The visitation and funeral were in Atlanta.  I went on over Thursday after lunch and Matt and the boys came late Thursday night.  Since we were going to be over there anyway, we decided to make the most of the weekend.  I wanted to do a little shopping and Matt wanted to eat at Cheesecake Factory, so we did that Friday night.  We were able to sit outside at dinner and Cal LOVED his Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake.  Matt and I had Pumpkin Cheesecake, which was delious too!  Brady was tired and just ready to go home by the time we got to the cheesecake.

The fountain that was by our table at dinner where all the change from my purse is :)

We decided to just go with the flow on Saturday.  We went to see my grandmother (she is in an assisted living facility) first.  Her birthday was on the 2nd, so we took her some flowers.

Cal and Brady with "Dot Dot"

Tried to get a photo opp. on the way out of the assisted living.......
As you can see Brady was not interested!

We were going to grill out with our friends about 5:30, so we decided not to try to do the zoo.  We went to Chipotle Grill for lunch.  We do not have these in Montgomery, but had seen a special on them on Food Network one night.  They use all natural meat/produce.  Who knew that it would be Cal who found it to be yummy!  Cal has just recently realized he likes the rice at his favorite Mexican restaurant.  Well, Chipotle has a white rice with lime juice and cilantro.  Matt had to go order more.  The nacho chips come in this little brown bag and they found that really fun too.We loved the steak (me) and pork (Matt), but the chicken was way too spicey for the boys to eat.

After our yummy lunch we headed to Whole Foods :)

Matt and I LOVE Whole Foods, but have to drive to Birmingham or Atlanta to go to one.  We normally stock up on meat every time we go to Atlanta.  This time we started out with a nice bag of apples then headed for a little sweet treat.  Cal picked out several pieces of chocolate, Brady picked a watermelon popcicle and Matt and I shared some mocha gelato.  We ended up with several types of meat and a jar of spaghetti sauce that Matt had heard about.

After Whole Foods the boys convinced us/reminded us that we go to Target every time we go to Grammy's! They are right, mom would take them to Target every time they came to visit.  We let Cal pick out a gift that mom would have bought him for his birthday.  He picked out a Lego set, but it will be wrapped and opened on his birthday.   We headed home for a quick rest before it was time to leave for dinner.  The weather was perfect and we grilled hamburgers.  We sat and visited until around 10:00 (Cal came and asked when we were leaving because he was ready to go to sleep)...Oops!  Thank goodness I had brought their p.j.'s because Brady was asleep before we even got out of the neighborhood.

We headed home Sunday afternoon to a crazy week.  Brady was out of school yesterday for Columbus Day, but Cal had school.  Friday Cal is out of school for teacher conferences, but Brady has school.  I plan to spend Friday with Cal making his "Star" poster.  Next week he is the "star" of the week.  He has to bring a poster covered with pictures on Monday.  All the kids in the class will make him a special book where they each write something nice about the "star".  He will take something special each day to share.  He will take birthday snack on Tuesday and I will go read to his class on Wednesday.  Then we are having his birthday party after school next Friday.
