CHOOT EM

I am just going to start out by saying that you never know what you will do for your children.  In this case it meant Matt not playing Friday golf, getting in carpool at 2:15 to be the first in line for 3:00 dismisal and standing in line for an hour just so the boys could see Jacob and Troy (you know Jacob and Troy right)?  If you don't they are from the tv show Swamp People.  If you can not find Matt and Cal at night at our house it is because they are watching Swamp People (Matt even records them).

Matt found out that they would be at BuckMasters over the weekend.  He called to find out more information and the lady he spoke with said for us to be there at 3 for the 3-6 meet and greet.  We were there a few minutes after 3 and Matt's mom and I waited in line for almost an hour then the boys jumped in line with us.  Good thing we went on Friday because a friend tried to take her boys on Saturday for the 9-11 signing and it was already over a 2 hour wait at 9 when they got there.

The boys had a shirt and a photo signed
4 very excited Bennett's

Brady wanted his picture taken with this deer

The boys autographed shirts and phots

10 on 10- 1st Day of 1st Grade

It just so happens that 10 on 10 was Cal's first day of school.  10 on 10 is the picture taking game where you take a picture for 10 hours of your day.

6:45
Having an orange juice pop with his breakfast.  For some reason before bed last night he wanted to make a homemade juice pop.  Whatever it takes to wake up on the first day of school.

7:45

Heading into Mrs. McNelley's classroom.

Sitting at his desk next to his friend Harrison J. and a little girl named Anna.

8:45

Brady having a melt down because his ligth up tennis shoes are too small and Cal was not home to play Wii with him.  Realized not long after this that he was too tired to eat at 6:45 this morning.  He went with Matt to work while I took Cal to school, so I asked if a biscuit would help.

9:45
So I ordered him a sausage biscuit and a coke.  Now he was ready to start the day.

10:45
We did go by the shoe store to see if they had light up shoes in his size.  We also found these cute mini pillow pets.  Brady picked out the puppy and picked Cal out a the gator.

11:45
Cal only had to go until 11:30 today, so I picked him up then we met Matt for lunch at Jason's Deli.  He always gets the salad bar.  I forgot to take the picture before he ate, so I took one after.  This is the last time I have control over what he has to eat for lunch.  He will start eating in the lunchroom tomorrow and we are not allowed to send a packed lunch.  Mind you they eat at 10:45.

12:45
We went to the bookstore after lunch.  Cal likes to look at the comics.

1:45
Getting a little fresh air

2:45
An afternoon treat with our friends who start back to school tomorrow.
California Yogurt Craze

3:45
We ended the day at the playground.  That is Cal at the bottom, but Brady's feet you see.

Atlanta in July

We went to Atlanta back on July 15th for 5 days.  Mom's birthday would have been on the 16th and for the past 2 years Kristy and I have met back in Atlanta for her birthday.  We also celebrate mine and Bob's birthday too.  We mixed in some fun with more cleaning out of mom and dad's house.  Of course we always eat well while we are there too.

The husbands left on Sunday, so Kristy and I decided to take the children to see Dot Dot and then go up to mom and dad's cabin.  The cabin is up for sale, but while it is still ours, we might as well use it.  Here is my sweet grandmother with the boys and I and Kristy and Kendall.

These are the first 2 of 15 deer we saw while at Big Canoe.  We normally see maybe 2 a day, but they were all over the place this day.

Morgan, Kendall, Cal and Brady in line for the rock-slide.

This is at the bottom

Paddle boats

Swimming

Cal trying to figure out how Morgan can go upside down on the swing

Trees and mountain air are always refreshing

Of course the boys found some sticks before we left

As for Brady, you can't tell, but he does not have on shorts because I did not bring him kacki shorts or exercise shorts (like I did Cal).  It appears that all Cal wore at age 4 was little gingham and "cute" plaid shorts.  Brady is having no part of it (I had to go to Target while in GA to buy more exercise shorts and kacki shorts).  So his choice was no shorts or the cute yellow searsucker shorts I brought him to wear.  As you can see he picked no shorts.

34

I turned 34 back on the 12th.  I woke up to the boys telling me Happy Birthday.  I went to exercise then the boys and I meet some friends at the pool.  We had lunch by the pool and the boys played while the mommies sat in the water and talked since it was too hot to be anywhere but in the water!  Matt works late on Tuesday, so we just decided to eat in.  The boys had picked me out a chocolate raspberry cake-one of my favorites!
Boys singing the "Happy Birthday-cha cha cha song"

Yummy!
Brady had been telling me he wanted to buy me a neckalace, a ring or some earrings for my birthday and was worried about where he could buy such items.  Matt took the boys to Target to pick out my gift.  They both decided on jewlery.  Brady's other thoughts were some toenail polish or a hairbrush. :)

The green and blue necklace is from Cal.  The blue one and the pink one are from Brady.
And..........My husband who does read my blog and listens.............is getting me a laptop(which we actually bought yesterday). :)  Jury still out on who is more excited, me or Cal!
He actually gave me this and said I had to figure out what it did in order to get my gift

On Thursday after my birthday we had friends over for dinner.  We decided that it would be more fun than going out so we could all talk better.  Normally, the girls either meet for lunch or the couples go out to dinner. As it turned out one couple could not come, so we were all able to fit at one table.  We had the Gulledge's, the Coley's, the Owen's and the Welch's over.  The Cherry's were out of town for the state baseball tournament.

 Here is the table.

Palmer and Susan did appetizers.  We had salad and shrimp and grits for dinner.  And cupcakes for desert.

I forgot to take a picture once everyone got to the house.  I was a little stressed from about 2:45-6:45.  We had a HORRIBLE summer storm.  A ton of rain and lightening.  There were trees down everywhere from lighening. We lost power about 2:45 and it did not come back on until 6:45.  Everyone was coming between 6:30 and 7-but told everyone to wait until 7.  We had decided that if it was not back on by 7 that we would move to the Owen's house (one of those weird things that they live in the same neighborhood, a mile away and never lost power).  Sweet Susan was going to let people come over without having time to clean her house.

We left for Atlanta on Friday to spend the weekend with my sister and her family.  I have some cute pictures from the weekend that I will post next.

Vacation

We just got back from the beach today!  Why do I have the time and energy to blog?  We got home at 11:00 a.m.!  We decided to drive 1/2 way back last night after dinner and it was the best idea.  We were home in time to pick up the dog, do laundry, take a nap, go to the grocery store and get the kids to bed early!  And we will feel like going to church tomorrow and I will be happy for Matt to go play golf!  If we had done the 8 hour drive all today, I would not have felt like doing all of this.

We left last Saturday at 8:00, because that is what time to vet opens and we could drop Luigi off.  Cal was up at 6:00, ready to leave.  The boys had picked out new DS games and they were not allowed to open them until we got in the car to leave.  They were in the car by 7:20!  Can you see that Cal has his seat belt on?  I still have on my p.j.'s while taking this picture.

Luigi is certain something is going on and wanting to know if he is getting to go.

As I said earlier, Matt thought we should give the "do it all in one day" drive a try again.  This means that we cut across South GA and eat lunch at Lanes.  This means THE BEST peach cobbler and peach ice-cream you will ever eat.  The boys had a great time because we have not done gone this way in several years.

Oh, did I mention that you can get the peach cobbler with peach ice-cream on top?
Peaches come in from the field and are sorted by machine and hand
Cal picked out a perfect box for us to enjoy while at the beach

We FINALLY made it to the beach.
Matt unloaded while I watched the boys at the beach then brought down drinks :)

Happy 4th of July
Headed to the Firecracker 5000 5K run/walk

Headed to see fireworks
Still trying to work out the details of seeing fireworks from a different side of the beach.  We used to just walk out on our patio, but now we have to walk or ride.  Matt thought he found us a new spot, but it was covered in ants.  We did the ant dance the whole firework show.
This is before we realized there were ants crawling on the blanket

We did do something different this year. We went to the Beaufort Farmer's Market on Thursday

The boys did a little dancing before we went to dinner

And after dinner..........for the first time in a couple of years............Granddaddy's Famous Banana's Foster

Yummy!!!!!

2 Camera notes: Didn't tote my bigger camera around like I normally would the point and shoot.  Also had to put my camera in my car the last few days because with a bigger lens, I could not get the fog off the inside lens after going from cold inside to hot and humid outside.  Kids are too quick, taking 30 minutes to defog, was not an option.  Any tips???????
