What Happens in Vegas....

Matt and I took a trip to Las Vegas a few weeks ago to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.  We went a few weeks before our actual anniversary so we could be back before the boys started school.
We staid at the Palazzo, which is connected to the Venetian.
We ate dinner one night next to the canal, where they were giving gondola rides.  We we pretended we were in Venice, Italy.
We ate lunch at Trevi, in front of the "Trevi Fountain".  Pretending we were in Rome, Italy this day.  Enjoyed walking around The Forum.
You can also pretend you are in Paris!
In front of a waterfall in the Venetian.
An awesome Wine Cellar at a restaurant at Mandalay Bay.  This was on one of the Bachelor/Bachelorete shows.
We had to go to the Pawn Stars Pawn Shop for the boys.  Got Cal a t-shirt.
We went to Fremont Street to see "old Las Vegas"
LOVE these 2 signs!

We took our own picture before we went to the show "O" at the Bellagio.  After the show we had our anniversary dinner at Olives.  It was absolutely delicious!  The restaurant over looks the Bellagio Fountains.
Our last night we ate at a cool beer pub that basically has their beer menu in a Nook type book where Matt scrolled through by type, price, etc.

We ate at In and Out Burger, saw all the big hotels, went to the pool and spa, rode the big roller coaster at New York, New York, and did a lot of walking.  We joked that we wanted to go somewhere as hot as Key West was 10 years ago.  Las Vegas in August was hot, but really not that bad.  It was a really fun trip.

Our real anniversary was Friday the 17th.  We had a nice quiet night at home.  Cal played with the neighbors until 7:30 and Brady did not get home from playing with a friend until 7:30, so we just cooked our favorite pizza and enjoyed a night on the patio.
Caramelized Onions and Goat Cheese
And here we are on our wedding day!

An Exciting Week

The boys started school last Wed.  They both woke up pleasant and ready to go!
Cal is excited enough for both of them.
Cal is using his backpack from last year.  Brady is sporting his new one.

Brady with Mrs. Handey.  He loves her already.  Started crying at bed one night last week about having to have other teachers-only wants her forever!

Cal with Mrs. Griffin.  She is new to Trinity and new to 2nd grade, but she is really cute and seems really fun :)
Cal is back with his best bud Will.  Yes, Cal is that much taller than all but 2 other boys in 2nd grade.

And...............my baby who just started full day K5................decided to lose his first tooth this week also!  He would not let Matt pull it, although it was dangling out of his mouth it was so loose.  So this morning as he is eating his muffin, he looks at me and says, "I don't think I have a loose tooth anymore."  I take a look and sure enough, no tooth.  I run upstairs and look in his bed, but there is no tooth.  It appears he swallowed his first loose tooth.  Tooth fairy will still come tonight.
He did ask if he needed an x-ray

JULY- a really fun month

We started July off with our family beach trip (still haven't posted pictures) then we continued to have a very busy month.  We celebrated my birthday the week we came back.  My uncle was in town with his travel ball team, we took the boys to Bonefish then Matt and celebrated with some friends over dinner at Wynlakes.  The boys LOVED Bonefish.  Their favorite was the calamari and saucey shrimp.

I had forgotten that there was one last thing Cal had asked to do this summer; Six Flags.  Matt and I had decided to wait until fall when it cooled off, but some friends from school and church decided to take a day trip and Cal was dying to go. Matt could not get off work at such late notice, so I headed out with the group around 7:00 a.m. and we did not get home until 9:30 that night.  It really was a lot of fun!  Here is a 1/2 group shot (we had split up from a few people and Brady was not in the mood for the picture).
This is after they had rode the Scream Machine 2x's
This is as we were leaving.  We were in a weather delay (no rain, just thunder) for about and hour before we decided to leave.  They both left with a few stuffed animals from playing a few games.

We are friends with 2 other families who have boys our boys age.  They have been wanting to do a big sleep over, so I gave in and agreed.  I had the mom's feed the boys and just bring them over around 6:30.  We had brownie sundaes and played kick-ball once the sun went down.  I had made muffins the day before while making the brownies.  It was a perfect sleep over breakfast.

We spent several days at the lake then it was time for my sister to come in for a visit.  They were here from Sat. - Wed.  We had a great time while they were here.

We bought tee-shirts and made cupcakes for the Olympic Opening Ceremonies.
Red Velvet Cupcakes

We are loving the Olympics and Matt even downloaded an app to his iPad for extra live coverage and it will list what is on each day.
Matt and Cal watching the iPad and the T.V.

They boys have less than 2 weeks before school starts, but we have had a fun summer!

Our Summer Favorites-Post #2

We just got back from a fun week at the beach.  I will post a few pictures in my next post, but this post is another one about some of our favorite things about summer.  I have noticed on a lot of blog post about making a summer "to do" list with your children when they get out of school.

Cal's was easy: pool, lake, beach, summer camps, make Oreo Balls, make salsa with peppers he picks from the grocery, lots of play dates.  I can say that we have now completed his list (and we still have a month of summer to go).

I forgot to take a picture of the Oreo Balls or the Key Lime Balls we also made.  Did learn working with chocolate is not my favorite and that white chocolate is hard to keep at the right temp.  I pinned the Oreo Balls and Key Lime Balls on Pinterest.

Here is a picture of the salsa made with a jalapeno pepper and a red pepper.  Pretty tasty I have to say.  Both boys liked it.

A favorite of the boys is getting new tennis shoes.  This is not Cal's first choice, so we are going to keep looking for what he wants, but these are his size and will work for school.  Brady my opinionated one is happy with his choice!
Brady's size 2 feet!

Cal's size 5 feet-learned something......Once a boy gets into a 5.5 they can actually wear a women's size 6.5.  Who Knew???  My husband and the sale's lady did :)

Because it is my birthday week, I went to get a pedicure when we got back from the beach.  The lady wanted to do something a little extra and I let her.

I love beach sunsets.  This is from the 4th of July-waiting on fireworks.

We Love Daddy!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO MATT!!!!  HE IS THE BEST DADDY AND HUSBAND EVER!!!!! We love and appreciate you! The boys and I surprised Matt with an iPad for Father's Day this year.  He had mentioned wanting one for Christmas, but knew he really wanted one NOW :)
Here they are with the iPad.  We have joked that the boys are more excited than Matt.

Matt wanted to spend a relaxing weekend at the lake for Father's Day (so that is just what we did).  Just thankful this idea of relaxation includes me, the boys and the dog :)
The boys and the cousins

My sweet boy
His favorite thing he and Matt do together is jump on the trampoline(and play Halo)

His favorite daddy time activity is up in the air, he said, "there is too much-everything."
After some thought he decided on going swimming.
Matt and Cal's favorite lake activity-Sm ore's

Things We Love About Summer- So Far.....

We have been having a great summer, so far.  The boys and I took at quick trip to Atlanta the first week they were out of school.  We saw some family, ate yummy food-that would be Cheesecake Factory cheesecake if you ask the boys, shopped a little and went to the new Lego Land.  The boys had a great time.  I really want to take them to one of the larger Lego Land Parks one day.
There were 2 rides, a 4D movie, and several hands on opportunities like build your own car and race other children.  There was one whole room where they had built famous areas of Georgia.  Above is the falcons stadium and Braves Turner Field.  Both interactive games.

We spent Memorial Day at the lake, have been to the pool, played with friends and went to karate camp.  We have Vacation Bible School next week, a week off then Golf Camp before we leave for the beach.  Here are a few pictures of what we are enjoying this summer so far.

Brady with Kool Kolors ice cream
Cal with Rainbow Sherbet
The ice-cream drawer in our freezer.  Cal declared that it was summer, we should have lots of ice-cream.
Do you know this brand-all flavors are to die for!
Sea Salt Caramel-I have a love/hate relationship-Love It except when it is bathing suit season.....which it is.............
Our new Popsicle mold.  When turned over you have a straw to drink the melted juice.
CHERRIES!!!!!
We have eaten so many cherries in 2 days that Matt decided that we needed a "cherry pitter".  The black gadget above.  It is very awesome!
White Wine for mommy
Tequila and lime for Matt this summer-also note his new juicer :)
He started to try to drink more water back in April, but needed lime to help him get it down.
Then one night he started playing with the lime juice and can make a mean "skinny Margarita".
Love the color "watermelon"
New cute place mats and plates from Target
