Happy 5th Birthday Brady

Brady had an awesome birthday week!  He started his week off last Friday with his birthday chapel.  Chapel is only on Friday's, so we decided to do the Friday before his birthday.  He does not love to be in front of a crowd, so this is really not his favorite.  It is more for the mommy!
Mrs. Leah giving his birthday blessing/prayer for him.
I let him dress himself :)
He had to get new tennis shoes(notice the bright orange), crocs and cleets last week.
Leah knew he didn't want to be up there, so she asked him if he wanted his class to come up to sing the God Bless You song with him.  He did and was happy!
Monday he took birthday snack to school.
I found these cute cupcakes on Pinterest.
He is having a pool party, so these little bears in an float were perfect.
He LOVED them.

Tuesday was his actual birthday.  I had to take Cal to school, so we went to Panera for breakfast after we dropped him off.  He went gift shopping with Grandmother then to lunch.  He had been wanting to see Chimpanze, so we went to the afternoon movie while Cal went home with a friend.  We let Cal skip baseball practice to go eat dinner.  Of course Brady picked the place with fire to go eat.
The guy cooking really went all out to make an awesome "volcano" because this is Brady's favorite part.

The only thing he asked for was this EZ rider car

We ended the week yesterday with this party.  He really wanted a party at the house because he "didn't want to drive anywhere"!  Thankfully we have awesome neighbors who let us borrow their pool for the afternoon, so a pool party it was!

The flip did not end well!
Really the boys taking turns jumping off the diving board was the highlight of the pool.  They all wanted to be judged and just jumped over and over again.
Red team vs. Blue team water balloon fight
We played a few games like where you had to sit on the balloon and pop it.
He picked out a Pokemon cake
Water guns for everyone-they used them at the party then each took one as a favor.
Forgot to take a pictue of the finished table, but another Pinterest idea was beach towels for the table cloth and Sweedish Fish for a snack.

The party was a lot of fun for the birthday boy and all who came to help celebrate.
Happy Birthday to the most active 5 year old I know!
We love you!

Happy Easter

This year Brady had a school egg hunt, but Cal did not (sad, I know).  Brady's egg hunt was at his friend Payne's house.  Half of the parents went to set up and half drove the children from school.  When Brady and Payne walked up they said where is the banner?  So Payne's dad put up a ribbon to run through.

On Saturday before Easter, we went to an egg hunt at Wynlakes.  Always a lot of fun and a lot of friends.
This is the 7-10 age group, but because I was talking, Brady missed the 4-6 year old hunt and went with Cal.  This is Cal, Browder, Carter, John P. and Brady making a plan on where they were running to first.
Proff that we dyed eggs.

Sunday we went to church then went to Matt's parents for lunch and a little egg hunt.
I think Brady is seeing if Cal is smiling for the camera.
He has issues when we ask him to look at the camera.  Maybe if he sees Cal does it, he will do it also!  I can only hope.......

Saturday Fun and a Haircut

Our last 2 Saturday's have been busy, but fun.  The Saturday before last Cal competed in a Martial Arts tournament.  He takes Taekwondo after school one day a week.  A teacher from a Karate facility comes to his school to give lessons.  Master Flemming pasted out information about a tournament and Cal wanted to do it.  He had to pick two events.  The events he picked were speed kicking and power breaking.  Here he is competing in the speed kicking.
He is competing against another kicker. 15 kicks-each side.
There were 6 or 7 in this group and they kicked against each other until there was a winner.  He did not win, but he was the only one who raised his hand that this was his first tournament.  They all had to raise their hands and shout "VICTORY!"

Here he is about to break his first board-yellow.

Broke It!

Orange board-BROKEN!

THIS GREEN BOARD WOULD NOT BREAK

He did finally break it to come in 4th.  He was one kick short of 3rd.
Again, only child who said it was their first tournament.

Here he is with his partcicpation metal.
So proud and sweet with his beautiful hair...................

Baseball is here and Matt thought he needed a haircut.  I do have to admit that he was starting to have Farrah Fawcett hair under his cap when he was running the bases.  So I took him Wednesday afternoon (not to the man who normally cuts their hair, but a place in a strip shop).  After sitting there an hour he looked in a book and picked out a haircut.  I almost had a heart attack, but I let him cut it.

The almost baseball buzz cut!
He likes it!

This past Saturday was the 5K and Fun Run at his school (and Brady's too).  Cal wanted to run the 5K this year, so Matt was on run/walk duty with him.  Brady was excited to be doing the Fun Run with his future Wildcat buddies.  Matt let me run by myself. I will say Cal's hair does look cute, just not in this picture, he had spent the night out and I did not bring spray to tame it.  I suggested a hat, he said, "No, I'm running a race."

My sweet boys
Here he and Matt come.  He took off leaving Matt...........
After the race
Brady, Lawson, Flemming and Andrew-who Matt's parents said should have been worn out before even starting the Fun Run. They had run around and jumped during the 5K.
Brady and I taking off for the Fun Run.
His feet are totally off the ground!
Crossing the Finish Line

Left the race for the ball field.  Brady had practice at 11 and Cal at 12.

We have Matt's birthday, Spring Break and a lot of baseball coming up.
It is going to get up into the 80's this weekend.
Happy Spring!

A Boy and His Dog

I caught a really sweet moment between Brady and Luigi today.  I like to call them my 2 four year olds because they fight, get into stuff/make a mess, I have to feed them snacks and they are all over the place.  I really don't know what I would have done this year without Luigi entertaining Brady and playing outside with him since this was our first year with Cal in school all day.   I had to take these through the window because if I had opened the door they would have moved.
A Hug
They must have heard something
Rubbing noses
And the moment was over when Brady started pulling on Luigi's skin.
They ran around the yard a few minutes before seeing me.

LOVE is in the air.....

Our Valentine fun started the weekend before with Brady getting to bring home the class pet (a stuffed Moose).  The first thing we took Moose to do was pick out Gigi's cupcakes.  Does your town have Gigi's?  They are huge and yummy!
Here is Moose trying to pick out which one he wants

Here is Moose hanging out in a backpack so Brady can take him on a bike ride.

Friday night and Saturday morning Matt and I went to a marriage conference at church.
Saturday afternoon we went to sign up for baseball (yes, it is that time) then went with another family to see Journey 2.  It was great!  Very boy friendly, which was good because there were 6 of them.

Monday it was time to return Moose to school with his journal and the snack bucket.
Brady wanted muffins because Moose has his own book, "If You Give a Moose a Muffin".  In Valentine's spirit I made them in the shape of hearts.

Brady had his Valentine's party on Monday, since he does not go to school on Tuesday's.  We had to leave the party a few minutes early to go to his Kindergarten play group.

You can't tell, but they had heart shaped sandwiches, fruit kabobs with heart shaped orange segments and strawberries and heart shapped carrots.  A lot of mommies on Pinterest. He agreed to wear this shirt for a dollar and if he could give it away to a baby once his party was over.  He changed before going to his play group.

On Tuesday, the boys woke up to their boxes of chocolates.  Cal loves Valentine's Day....a day to spread love and eat chocolate.......it doesn't get much better.

Hasn't been awake 5 minutes and is eating chocolate for breakfast.  It's gonna be a good day!  I did try to make store bought cinnamon rolls into hearts.

Not near as excited about the day as Cal.

Cal had his school party then we came home waited for Matt to get home before all helping make the Barefoot Contessa's Linguine with Shrimp Scampi and lobster tails.
It was delious and a hit with all 4 of us!

This is the leftovers, which was not much, it made a lot.

And last but not least, we love Luigi (most of the time, when he is not in trouble for eating toys, Lego's and stuffed animals. :)

Hope you had a fun Valentine's Day too.

And He's Off

Well one day my baby was just riding his scooter.....

And the next day he asked his daddy to take off his training wheels.

Luigi is not sure he should be doing this on his own

So proud

His bike the "BIG CRUSH!"

We have been to Kindergarten Open House, he has done his testing and he goes to a play group next week.  It looks like my baby is going to Kindergarten next year.
